Introduction
Dalian is a vibrant and fast developing city. Situated on the southern tip of Liao Dong Peninsula it has a long coast line. The coast line gives room for both a deep water harbor, as well as for many popular beaches. Dalian is a regional tourist city, popular for spring - summer - fall travel. Our scenery, golfing, ocean life and city parks make the city a favorite on the tour itineraries. Dalian has been able to attract much foreign investment and is as a result increasing the port facilities. The airport is expanding as are the destinations served from Dalian. Dalian train station has been renovated and enlarged. The train service has also been upgraded and expanded. The development of heavy and light industry, combined with a growth in the financial sector has given the city a solid economic base.

Commercial Area
Dalian’s main commercial area stretches from Gangwan Square up to the City Hall, on either side of Renmin Road/Zhongshan Road. This area covers most of the major banks, financial firms and other major foreign, joint venture and local business offices based in the down town area.
Tourism
Dalian is a city of hills and ocean, thus offering a number of scenic spots for the tourist. You can also enjoy the beaches and boating in Dalian. We have some golf courses that are rated as highly challenging; at one of them you can enjoy a spectacular view of the ocean while playing. We have an interesting aquarium, polar aquarium, the forest zoo. For travelers who enjoy the city life, Zhong Shan Square, Xing Hai Square are places to visit.
Local Information.
Dalian covers a total of 12.574k㎡ the coastline stretches 1906km. To the East is the Bohai Sea, to the South-East the Shan Dong Peninsula and to the North are the three North-Eastern Provinces, Liaoning, Jilin and Helojiang in addition to Inner Mongolia. In Dalian the main language is Mandarin Chinese. Depending on what company (ies) you are visiting English or Japanese might be understood. Population 5.4 million people. Time difference: GMT +8hours. Passport and visa information.
All foreign visitors need to bring a passport and a basic visa. Currently the basic tourist visa is 30 days and is relatively easy to get from most countries.
Currency
Renminbi RMB, the RMB is not freely convertible, and you can therefore not buy RMB outside China. There are banks in most major airports where you can change major currencies to RMB. All downtown banks will do this as well.
Shopping
Dalian is the shopper’s paradise. In Dalian there are not many fashion brands you miss. In addition we have a host of arts & crafts, electronics and anything else you want to buy.
Tipping
Generally we do not give tips in China.
Working hours / business hours
Government 09:00-12:00, 13:30-16:30 Banks: 09:00-16:30 Offices: 08:00-17:00 Shopping: Supermarkets and department stores are usually open AT LEAST 09:30 - 20:00, some earlier and later as well. In other stores the opening hours varies.
Clothing
There are no particular rules, but if you are meeting government people it is advisable to dress formally. Otherwise for business the industry code prevails. Be prepared to have warm dress available November- March, October and April-May a sweater and outer jacket is needed. June - September is warm, and sometimes hot, light dress is advisable.
Health inspection
All visitors are required to hand in the health inspection form upon entering China.
Units of measure
China uses the metric system. Although a traditional system based on 500g, and 0.5km, is widespread.
Electricity
In China 220v with 50 Hz is used. Our hotel rooms are set up to accept a variety of plugs. There is one 110v plug in each guest room. Mobile phone systems:GSM and CDMA
